The OSC Value-Added Process
Most translation firms are "virtual" – meaning nearly all of their translations are performed by freelancers working offsite. As such, they cannot typically control outside costs, oversee quality control or provide integrated services that combine translation with design, typography, prepress and/or printing without outsourcing to multiple suppliers. But WE ARE NOT VIRTUAL. Over the past decade, we have developed a global operation with specialized staff spread over two continents that can integrate all of these services - from translation to finished product - into one seamless process. This mature infrastructure of people, systems and facilities comprises our Trans-Plus® Multi-Language Publishing System. Consequently, we deliver service beyond the imagination of our virtual counterparts. OSC's powerful in-house methodology means fewer steps, fewer errors, better quality and low risk for our clients.

Trans-Plus® Multi-Language Publishing System
By using our unique Trans-Plus® multi-language, multi-alphabet publishing system, our translators simultaneously typeset as they translate. Utilizing the features of our publishing system, our designers eliminate the imbalances between Roman and non-Roman typefaces, custom pre-fit the translated copy into the design, and adjust and fine-tune the type in the final product.
Translation Memory Technology
Most translations are performed utilizing TRADOS translation memory (TM) technology. Source text and its corresponding translation are stored in language pairs in a linguistic database while the translator translates. Then as new text is entered, it is compared to the translations already stored in the database. If identical text is encountered, it is displayed along with the translation and can be immediately re-used. As a result, previously translated sentences can be recycled immediately leading to high consistency and quality, while reducing cost and project cycles.
On-Line Access to Your Projects
The Web Editor is a unique software system developed by OSC. Through Internet technology, it provides clients with secure multi-level access to the projects taken on by OSC. The Web Viewer is a complementary adjunct to the Web Editor. It provides read-only project access to all personnel you designate. The Web Editor offers:
  • editing capability and review of graphically formatted copy
    on a standard web browser–anywhere in the world,
    24 hours a day
  • complete view of pages in stylized graphic format,
    font and layout
  • comparison of current files with earlier versions
  • a history of copy changes–showing the dates edits
    were made and by whom
  • greater flexibility in communicating and executing last minute copy changes
  • access rights at client discretion
